I personally believe that you don't need one particular day to celebrate your love and affection for someone. But I'm a sucker in a society that spoon-feeds us teddy bears and chocolates on stores' shelves as soon as Christmas is over. So, I do try to make it special and today was a day like that.
After we returned, we made a nice romantic dinner with candles and chocolate boxes for dessert. You can't have a Valentine's Day dinner without having chocolate! And here is my version of heavenly goodness...

We woke up early to go have breakfast at C & B's house. B was awesome and made us blueberry waffles, sausages and eggs! Yum. After breakfast we drove to north Ft. Myers to visit the Echo Farm. ECHO (Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization) is a non-profit, inter-denominational Christian organization. It has been assisting a global network of missionaries and development workers since 1981 and is currently serving agricultural workers in 180 countries. The Global Farm is divided into six main areas. Each area is managed by one of ECHO's agricultural interns who spends 12 months cultivating, harvesting, and researching numerous crops, fruit trees, and nutritious food plants. Each plot is also used to produce seeds which are ultimately packaged and sent overseas in order to be evaluated as a potential new food crop. Showcased on the various plots are affordable and sustainable farming techniques that also incorporate suitable animals and appropriate technologies. We toured all the six areas: tropical highlands, tropical monsoon, tropical rainforest, semi-arid tropics, hot and humid lowlands and urban rooftops. It was interesting, I have to say!

All in all, commercialized or not, we had a lovely Love Fest Day! Hope you did the same...
XOXO
