The day came and went. Last Wednesday we went to Miami for the fingerprint appointment with the Immigration Services. Mine was scheduled in Oakland, FL. We got there early just to make sure we find it, but they only take you in half hour earlier so plan ahead: have lunch or something, don't wait in the car! Once my turn came, for your information, they don't let people in with cell phones or any other device that has a camera, make sure you leave it behind. Inside, you have to present the notification you received in the mail telling you where and when to go for the appointment and a picture ID (it can be a passport, driver's license, national ID etc.).
After a short wait time, I was led to a room where they recorded all my fingerprints digitally, took a photo and a signature. Pretty painless! The whole process was 10 minutes or so. Also, the staff was very nice and helpful, unlike the stories I heard... I guess if you are smiling and nice they'd smile and be nice back. Always works!
When this was over, we headed over to the "Store of Absolute Fabulosity": IKEA!! As soon as I entered, I knew I wanted to move in...like Immediately! First off, the store in humongous! It has two stories: first floor is where you purchase all the goodies and the second is only showrooms. We focused our attention on kitchens, since that is what we are planning on working on next in our home. We need to change the kitchen cabinets, so IKEA may be just the place to get them! All the set-ups were fab! The style si clean, modern, simple and...just awesome! And the prices...well, the prices are a whole different story: a.f.f.o.r.d.a.b.l.e., people! And what's even cooler about IKEA is that they have an online tool you can download which helps you plan your remodel project. So, as soon as we got home, we stayed up until late at night dreaming...planning...dreaming again... All in all, great store! Check it out: www.ikea.com. The Swedish know what they're talking about!
Another news on my list is one that I just discovered! My girlfriend of almost 6 years is pregnant!!! We both matured in the same time, together in a sea of foreigners, away from our parents and familiar places, so we became like sisters. To be honest, I was shocked, I didn't expect it at all, especially because she had told me she's not in a hurry. She's been married to her husband a little over a year now, but no rush... Well, I guess plans changed and they changed quickly so now I'm very excited to become an auntie!! It feels weird, like I don't know her anymore, like she's changed so much, like I'm this 12 year old in the middle of the road and she's a lot older running in front of me, all mature and grown-up! I am really happy though, I know she will be a wonderful Mom and the baby is definitely going to be spoiled! By the parents, Grandparents and especially her favorite auntie: ME! I cannot wait to hear all the changes she will be going through and especially to see the little changes in the growing of the bump. So funny, I can't believe it! Have you been to that place where everybody around you is either getting married or having children and you still don't think you're grown-up enough to do that? Well, I did the first one and I know it comes with responsibilities, but I went into it easily...Now having a baby, is a whole different story. I am not ready to make that commitment yet. But then again, when are you really ready? Hm... scary... I know we are going to wait, enjoy our time of two (three actually with Rusty) and when the baby time arrives, oh well... But the news of my best friend's little miracle kinda shook me and made me think deeply about changes in life...
What is it that makes you think of deeper meanings in life? Are you enjoying every moment of every day?
XOXO
