Today was a beautiful sunny day in the 80's and everyone seemed to have left their homes and headed out for a day on the town. The city is packed with people from all over the world, I heard multiple languages spoken... I love the busy-feel of the town, but I hate the traffic. So, what better occasion to go out and play in the sun than a nice Art Festival in a park? The two combined and you have a happy girl right here.
The Festival was organized by The Von Liebig Art Center and they put on a great show, by gathering a huge number of artists. There were paintings, photographs, metalwork, woodwork, jewelry, sculptures, glass, and even gourd art! It was a feast for the eyes! ...and for the ears too, as they had a group of what seemed like high-school students playing classical music.
I took a bunch of shots. Here are my best from the day:
Leather art
Ceramic abstract

This was scary: wax figures... but this guy in particular looked so real and scary I'm glad I didn't take a full-body shot of him. He had a huge beer-belly, all leather-clad and tons of tattoos, but I have to say the artist captured all the details to the perfection.

Same artist

Self-portrait

Suspended gymnasts?

This photo looked so serene...

These pretty colors make me want to start painting

Glass art

Ceramic

Me trying on some artistic hats

Too cute

Ikebana vases

Gourd art

I keep coming back to this. How awesome are these?

I always love me some color

This artist makes amazing stuff out of scrap metal

Those teeth are regular screws

A leather-made board game

Painted glass

These sculptures were made to emulate the photos behind them

Sexy vases by Alexis Silk. She is based out of southern Illinois and makes everything free-hand...Pretty amazing, no?

A feast for the ears as well as the eyes...

Loved the concept of this one

Love the name of this piece: "Star struck", how cute...

Textures

Self-portrait

Glass fruits

I loved these old toy cars!

Some vegetation along the way...

...and some headshots:

I like the way this reflection shot came out:

If you live in Naples and haven't seen the Festival, trust me it is worth going. Entrance fee is $5 per person, but you see some great pieces of art! Enjoy!
